Electrical Project Engineer

Compensation: $100,000 to $115,000

Wright Technical Services is representing a leading system integrator in their search for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer. This company specializes in automating systems and machinery used in steel and aluminum production. Likewise, the ideal candidate will have experience working in the metals industry. Our client is growing and is looking for an engineer to grow with them.

The Project Engineer is responsible for fulfilling assignments, individually or as part of a project team. Assignments may include involvement in multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Function

  • Receive project assignments from Project Manager and/or Technical Lead.
  • Write PLC and HMI Application Software.
  • Configure AC and DC Drive Equipment.
  • Provide engineering detail to and work with internal drafting resources to develop drawings.
  • Report on project status and communicate technical issues.
  • Develop technical documentation and specifications.
  • Develop system test plan documents, simulation code, and perform system testing.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Technical Leads, and/or Customers to commission systems.

Requirements & Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Travel requirements are 15 – 25% of the time.
  • Experience working with PLC, AC and DC Drive systems, and HMI Products.
  • Metals processing knowledge is preferred.
  • Aptitude in programming/configuring PLC’s (Allen Bradley, Siemens, & GE), drives (Siemens, ABB, & Allen Bradley), and various HMI packages.
  • Willingness and desire to participate in ongoing training to maintain technical competency in automation products, software, and complimentary areas.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A team player and a dedication and concern toward completing work in a timely manner.
  • Understanding of the industry and keeping whole company perspective with customers and projects.
  • Be flexible and adaptive member of the team, occasionally shifting focus to augment or help other projects or teams outside the primary scope of duties.
  • A desire to continue to learn and adapt to new skills.
  • Continually improve skills and knowledge to advance within the organization.
  • Bring new information, ideas, and practices to the team, but also being capable of following direction and orders from management and leadership.
  • Understands all product safety and guarding requirements.
  • Ability to lead all phases of a project while managing critical milestones and customers.
