Engineering Talent Demand Week of April 1st, 2024 – BIG UPTICK & NOT an April Fools Joke
The demand for talent the week of April 1st remains at 3 to 1 but there’s a ‘but’, a big ‘but’. There are still three open jobs for every one engineer looking to make a move. That said, the gauge is just over 3.5 which is the highest its been since the week of February 8th.
As anticipated demand is on the rise. Our BOLD prediction, the gauge will be over four by the end of April. There will be four open jobs for every one engineer looking to make a change.
Hiring season is in full swing, budgets have been finalized and companies are preparing to begin investing in capital projects. Of course some are still waiting for interest rates to fall but the Fed is holding to their commitment of three decreases in 2024.
Wright’s results also align. Q1 was our biggest quarter ever. Our own recruiting efforts for clients are at a record high both in engineering and in IT. We don’t anticipate that slowing down any time soon.
