Summary
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for executing security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure security improvement initiatives across the organization’s global server environment, operating within a predominantly Windows and VMware-based enterprise environment. This role serves as a dedicated technical resource within the infrastructure team, partnering closely with Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Application, and Operations teams to reduce security exposure and improve the overall security posture of the enterprise.

The position focuses on hands-on execution of remediation activities, secure configuration management, operating system hardening, patch management, Active Directory security improvements, and infrastructure security projects. The successful candidate must be capable of operating in a large-scale enterprise environment while balancing security requirements with operational stability and up-time expectations.

 

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise server and infrastructure environments.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server administration and security hardening.
  • Experience with Active Directory administration, Group Policy, and privileged access management.
  • Experience performing vulnerability remediation and security hardening activities.
  • Familiarity with patch management solutions such as SCCM/MECM, ManageEngine, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting VMware-based environments.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with Infrastructure and Cyber Security teams to drive remediation efforts.
  • Linux administration experience.
  • Experience applying CIS Benchmarks or security best practices.
  • Exposure to vulnerability management tools.
  • Azure or hybrid cloud experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute server and infrastructure hardening activities aligned with CIS Benchmarks, industry standards, and corporate security requirements.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation across Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, virtualization, and related infrastructure platforms.
  • Partner with Cyber Security teams to evaluate vulnerabilities, prioritize remediation efforts, and drive closure of security findings.
  • Deploy and maintain secure system configurations through standardization and baseline enforcement.
  • Identify, remediate, and reduce unnecessary services, ports, protocols, and privileged access across server environments.
  • Support enterprise patch management activities for operating systems and infrastructure applications.
  • Collaborate with application owners and business teams to coordinate remediation efforts while minimizing operational impact.
  • Assist with Active Directory security initiatives, including privilege management, group policy remediation, tiered administration, and identity security improvements.
  • Support remediation activities resulting from vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, audits, and security reviews.
  • Assist with implementation of security controls and compliance-related initiatives.
  • Work within VMware environments to coordinate guest OS hardening, lifecycle management, patching, and vulnerability resolution.
  • Develop automation scripts and operational efficiencies using PowerShell and other automation tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of technical procedures, remediation activities, security configurations, and operational standards.
  • Participate in incident response activities related to server and infrastructure security events when required.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve infrastructure security, operational efficiency, and platform resilience.
  • Support additional infrastructure and security initiatives as assigned.
