The role of a Master Data Management (MDM) Data Governance Consultant, will play a pivotal role in ensuring data accuracy and consistency within an organization. Their expertise in data governance, experience with global manufacturing, and familiarity with SAP/ERP systems are critical for success in this role.

Ideal Candidate will have experience with:

Developing Data Governance Strategy: The consultant should design a comprehensive strategy for data governance, particularly focused on addressing issues related to critical master data fields and values. This strategy should outline the goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for data governance.

What will you do?

Policies and Processes: Create and implement data governance policies and processes that align with the organization’s objectives. These policies should cover data quality, data access, data security, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Data Governance Practice: Establish a Data Governance Practice that involves setting up the necessary organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities for managing and governing data effectively. This includes defining data stewards, data owners, and data governance committees.

Variance Issues Resolution: Addressing the variance issues with critical master data fields and values is a primary responsibility. This may involve data cleansing, data standardization, and data enrichment activities to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

Desired Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • MDM and Data Governance Expertise: The ideal candidate should have a strong background in MDM and data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • SAP/ERP Experience: Experience with SAP and ERP systems is important since these systems often serve as the backbone for managing master data. The consultant should be proficient in leveraging these systems for data governance purposes.
  • Global Manufacturing Experience: Given the global nature of manufacturing, the ideal candidate should have experience working in a global manufacturing environment. Understanding the nuances of data governance in such an environment is crucial.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication is essential for collaborating with various stakeholders, including business units, IT teams, and senior management.
  • Analytical Skills: The consultant should be adept at data analysis to identify data quality issues and recommend solutions.
  • Project Management: Project management skills are valuable for planning and executing data governance initiatives successfully.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding relevant data privacy and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is crucial for ensuring data governance aligns with legal requirements.
