Controls Engineer

Compensation: $85,000-$105,000/year.

Wright Technical Services is supporting a top client in the automated CNC machine build space. They are actively seeking a highly skilled controls engineer to join their team and support their customers across North America. As a controls engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for various industrial processes. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration and optimization of their machines and equipment.

Job Functions

  • Work closely with multiple parties from project inception to sign-off to maintain clear understanding of project scope and timeline.
  • Create detailed specifications for interfaces with company equipment.
  • Work with 3rd party suppliers of automated equipment during system design to verify intended functionality.
  • Support Electrical Engineering Team with system design including component selection, IO strategy, and schematic drawings.
  • Create and modify robot programming applications using appropriate software.
  • Create and modify Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming applications using appropriate software.
  • Create and modify Human Machine Interface (HMI) 
  • Setup and test bar code and pattern match vision programming applications using appropriate software.
  • Teach robot tool center points, user frames, and pick/place positions.
  • Debug robot, PLC, HMI, and vision programs during system testing and commissioning to validate functionality, safety compliance, and robustness.
  • Support Automation Support Engineering Team with system debug.
  • Effectively communicate problems/issues to other engineers to and collaborate on solutions so that they are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Participate in risk assessments of automation equipment.
